Scranton Elementary STEAM Academy’s mission is to empower our learners to solve problems, make connections, and lead the way. This mission would not be possible without the school’s dedication to providing STEAM learning to all students. SESA proudly holds STEM accreditation through Cognia’s accreditation process. At SESA, all students are given the opportunity to sharpen the skills needed to meet the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Each grade level receives rigorous instruction through the Engineering is Elementary Curriculum and has opportunities to visit the school’s Science Lab weekly. There is a school-wide focus on implementing the Engineering Design Process with fidelity. SESA students also attend quarterly STEAM classes focused on gardening, health sciences, robotics, coding, 3-D printing and more. Monthly club days provide students with chances to explore their interests and talents in many STEAM related fields.
